Donald Trump gave his first interview after winning the US presidential election. In NBC News’ ‘Meet the Press’ program, Trump openly expressed his views about the plans for the upcoming term. Trump said on Sunday that he is planning to pardon those convicted of attacking the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Trump said that the rioters of January 6 will be pardoned on the very first day. He argues that many of the accused have suffered extremely harsh treatment in prison. Trump said – many of these people are living in hell.
However, Trump has warned the members of the committee investigating the January 6 violence. Trump told NBC News’ Kristen Welker that honestly, they should go to jail. Welker then asked – ‘So you think Liz Cheney should go to jail?’ Trump replied that he thinks ‘everyone’ on the January 6 committee should go to jail. Cheney served as vice chair of the January 6 committee, which ended in 2022 with a criminal referral to the Justice Department over Trump’s role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election.
